This restaurant-style Japanese style Spicy Seaweed Salad (a.k.a. “wakame“) is perfect when paired with sushi, soup, poke bowl, or as a healthy appetizer. The spicy is more akin to ginger and not like a hot pepper. Delicious!

Wakame is a species of edible seaweed or kelp. It has a subtly sweet and spicy, but distinctive flavor and texture. Sea farmers in Japan have grown wakame since the Nara period (AD 710 to 794). It’s considered the “superfood of the sea!”
